I offer you, dear fellow American, and of whatever political persuasion or creed the chance to prove me wrong. We'll get to the nuts and bolts of that after this consideration:
Certain Fact: In the 13 years since the War Formerly Known As On Terror (now, just "The Long War") our strategy has obviously failed.
Our designated enemies have continually grown in adherents, wealth, armament, land, and control of populations. Like everywhere we've bombed or supported civil strife.
All at a level of cost to human life, misery, and terror which hasn't been seen since...
I was going to say "Pol Pot," but he kept it in one country, as did (for the most part) Mao. Frankly, to include the breadth of nations where havoc flows from our efforts we have to go back to the 1940s.
Well, this Long War has cost us death, maiming, and life-long trauma to some hundreds of thousands of Americans. The money we use to pay for this war turns out to be damn near the same as what we borrow, at interest, to create our deficits.
We've lost whatever 'soft power' we had as everybody on earth now knows that the US will torture, invade, and do every unjust thing we used to, at least seemed to, stand against.
Moreover, if you follow world economic news, nations making trade agreements among themselves to which the US isn't even invited is a rampant activity. Why? Because it's mostly to trade among themselves with their own currencies. To get away from dollar-hegemony. To unseat the dollar as reserve currency. Reserve currency being the pillar on which our economy, and our military, rests.
But there's not one fucking newpaper, not one fucking politician, which has anything to say about the massive failure, in fact, the disaster for the US and humanity in general, of our Aggressive War practices.
You can find one? Please post that. And then, of the tens of thousands of politicians and journalists in the US, we'll have that one. Heck maybe even five or ten can be named.
Now here's how you can prove me wrong. I Dare You.
I'm speaking to you all you Internet Users. Frontpager, blog reader, fan or critic, left, right, center, or just loves pooties; this site or any another at all, listserv users, emailers, have your Face booked, have your tweets atwitter... I want you to marshall ALL your Internet Powers.
In the period of the next month, force the issue of our seriously failed war-making strategy to be a front and center discussion among our politicians and media (including the think tanks).
I say one month, because we really don't have time to be setting up a 2016 Election which is run as the usual bullshit over side issues, when our National Security is at stake (even unto the quality and freedom of our lives), from the refusal of our elites to deal with reality.
