Georgia's RFRA is pretty much dead for this session of the state legislature. However, that does not mean that certain businesses will not deny services to gay folks. Some intend to do so anyway.
From Queerty:
Jennifer Williams says the Bible is the “rulebook for her life,” which is why she supports the so-called proposed ‘Religious Freedom Restoration Act’ in Georgia. It’s also why she’d refuse to provide flowers to a gay couple.
Another Georgia florist says she won’t serve gay people despite the fact that the law hasn’t been passed, because Jesus “died on the cross for me. It’s the least I could do for him.”
From
Towleroad:
CNN's Gary Tuchman visited five florists in rural Jeff Davis County, Georgia who all said they support the new law that would shore up their ability to turn away gay customers.
Jeffcoat"[Jesus] died on the cross for me, so that's the least I can do for Him," said florist Melissa Jeffcoat, whose son Carlton (pictured above) is studying to become a Southern Baptist pastor. Asked by Tuchman if she'd serve adulterers and other Biblically-defined "sinners," Ms. Jeffcoat said she would, adding:
"[Homosexuality] is just a different kind of sin to me and I don't believe in it."
Even without the RFRA law, it may still be legal to discriminate against LGBT folks in this manner in Georgia, because Georgia does not provide any accommodations protections (via the law) for LGBT folks.
