..that's the word. That's the threatening tone from the police making the front page "news" all over the country. Rachel Maddow takes a look starting further back in time and puts together the story more like it should be told - imo
Baltimore violence follows in tragic pattern (video segment @ link | a re-cap of police violence 47 years ago 1968 following MLK assassination & now | with link to police announcement condemning angered citizens | Cops: "A Group of Outrageous Criminals Attacked" Officers)
Rachel Maddow reviews the recent history of civil unrest in response to police violence against people of color, exposed to the public by a series of mostly civilian sourced videos.
Cop statement: "On Saturday we saw the best of Baltimore. We saw protests that were peaceful as the city came together to voice frustration and share their concerns with this police department."
"A small group of agitators turned that protest violent and you saw remarkable restraint from our officers."
"Remarkable restraint."
"..this afternoon a group of outrageous criminals attacked our officers. Right now we have seven officers that have serious injuries including broken bones, and one officer that is unconscious."
"We will do whatever is appropriate to protect out police officers and insure the safety of the people who live and
work in the Mondawmin area...."
"..We will continue to keep the city safe. Our officers are working as quickly and as appropriately as we can to bring about order in the area of Mondawmin and effect the arrest of the criminals who
violently and without provocation attacked our police officers."
"Our primary concern right now is to make sure that our officers stay safe. I can't emphasize this enough. We have seven officers who were injured in the course of this. They have broken bones. One of them is unresponsive.
This is not okay.
"Our officers went out to that situation to make sure that the people who live in that community were safe and we're going to continue to do what we can to make sure they stay safe."

" We have that obligation to the city".
"We're doing what we do in these type of situations.. your're gonna see tear gas, you're gonna see pepper balls. We're gonna use appropriate methods to ensure that we're able to preserve the safety of that community".
Sorry for the poor HTML layout work and the lack of any further comment. These are only a few of the police beatings and murders. Listening to the reporting and hearing the townsfolk all but directly threatened into apologizing to the police has me seeing red and erasing most of the cussing it took me to get this down. I hope at least the point hits home somewhat
Ta-Nehisi Coates tells it (April 27, 2015):
Nonviolence as Compliance
When nonviolence begins halfway through the war with the aggressor calling time out, it exposes itself as a ruse.
