Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
We in the US celebrate our Mother's on the Second Sunday in May. It began in 1908 from the efforts of Anna Jarvis. She wanted to honor her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis.
Most mothers are caregivers, teachers, disciplinarians, cooks, spouses, maids, doctors, small business women, and social secretaries. Somehow they have the ability to juggle all of these roles, and are successful in each one. Some children had step-mothers, grandmothers, aunts, dads or a dear adult who were their main caregiver. I want to wish all who are caregivers an early Happy Mother's Day.
My mother was the one constant in my life. When I think about my mom raising me alone when she was 20, and working and paying the bills, and, you know, trying to pursue your own dreams, I think is a feat that is unmatched.
