The Right Baits the Left to Turn Against Hillary Clinton

WASHINGTON — A Twitter post recently caught the eye of Bill McKibben, the environmental advocate and godfather of the Keystone XL pipeline protests. It included an image from “The Simpsons” showing Homer and his family basking in mountains of cash in their living room, followed by a report on Hillary Rodham Clinton’s appearing at a fund-raiser with a lobbyist from the Keystone fight.
There you go again, Republics, using yet more dirty tricks in your attempts to steal yet another election away from the American people. You associate with and celebrate such venal, detestable human beings as Karl Rove. You encourage people like him to train our youth in ways to undermine democratic AND republic ideals in the US.
Rove climbed the ladder of power in the right wing by cheating. He used procedural gimmicks to get the winner of the 1966 national College Republican President election out of the way so he could take the lead. Rove's Crossroads PAC is engaged in this bad behavior on a mega-level, with millions at their disposal to plant treacherous claptrap like this.
“You expect different from a Clinton?” one person responded on Twitter. And from another: “Did you need another reason not to vote for Hillary Clinton?” Lost in the response was the source of the offending tweet. It was not another environmental organization or even a liberal challenger to Mrs. Clinton. Instead, it was a conservative group called America Rising PAC, which is trying, with laserlike focus, to weaken the woman who almost everyone believes will be the Democratic Party’s candidate for president in 2016.
It is our job as those who seek to help the world on a path to human rights and dignity to point out these corrupt acts and actors.
On May 16, a Kos flame war erupted among people who are for-or-against Hillary. This war was based on another right-wing propaganda piece. Bad enough the war; even worse, the corporate media NYT has to bring it to our attention.
More below the French Twist.
I am not a Hillary Clinton fan, but I refuse to get taken in by these crazy rumors.
I spent seven years at college and law school, 1998-2004, always the oldest in my class. I had more time to observe my classmates objectively because I wasn't looking for romance. I got involved in student organizations and student government, serving as an officer of my law school ASB two years in a row.
There, I had the opportunity to observe College Republicans and Federalist Society students lie, cheat, steal. Their main message is that it doesn't matter how you act as long as you "win." Rove sought a "permanent Republican" rule of our government. That would be the Fifth Reich, eh buddy.
They seem to be saying, 'here, Americans, take your medicine and let the rich run roughshod over your investments, homes, family life and health.'
During my time in law school, close friends were out walking one evening after dinner. They came to my apartment afterward. His glasses were broken. Her knees were skinned up. They had accosted three of our classmates who were out beating up homeless people just for fun and tried to stop them.
Let's repeal Godwin's law. It is appropriate to use the word fascist when describing the tendencies and postures of our extreme-and-extremer Republics (my retort to their demeaning use of "Democrat Party.") You can get to the right of them, then they will run all over you to out-fascist the Presidential candidate flavor of the week.
Just remember that the Right is always Wrong. Heck, they even made up Godwin's law to stop us from telling it like it is.
