Why don’t IAEA officials have complete and full access to Iran’s nuclear sites to confirm, as the Regime says, that its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes only? What is Iran trying to protect and hide?

By the end of the month, the P5+1 and Iran are hoping to sign a deal regarding Iran’s Nuclear Program, and Western sanctions.
Many argue that it is Iran’s right as a sovereign state to deny inspectors access to its nuclear and military sites. Others argue that Iran’s non-compliance in inspections signals that the Ayatollah is in hot-pursuit of illicit military nuclear capability. While both camps argue credible points, one key fact is being overlooked.
International treaties and agreements, such as the deal currently on the table, would require transparency and integrity on both sides—without it, no treaty can be upheld. Without it, no deal should be signed.
Whether Iran is, or is not pursuing an atomic bomb isn’t the gravest issue currently at hand. The question is, why is Iran not complying with commitments it has already made to the international community, and with that in mind, why is the P5+1 even continuing to move forward on securing a deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran?
Regardless of whether you think Iran is or isn’t pursuing a nuclear bomb isn’t the most pressing issue today. Rather, should we be moving forward to strike a deal with, to lift sanctions on, a Regime that continues to show us from experiences that it doesn’t ever hold up its end of the bargain?
I think not. Unless the Iranian Regime proves it will comply with Western demands (which it has not), a deal should not be signed and sanctions should not be lifted.
