America's Best (fundamentalist) Christian, Betty Bowers, is back to school us on religious liberty. Many of us remember her magnificent explanation of what a Bible-based marriage is.
With all these "license to discriminate" bills popping up in states all over the country, the language the religious right is using to push these laws can cause confusion as to what is actually going on. Well, it's Betty Bowers to the rescue. She can help us to understand these odious laws.
From Towleroad:
America's Best Christian Mrs. Betty Bowers is back and is here to tell you how religious freedom works. She decides to make a visit to ISIS and 'compare notes.' Conservative Christians and the Islamic State have a lot in common, after all. For instance, "Imposing our faith on others...You call it a caliphate, we call it no separation between Church and State." Betty points out the hypocrisy underlying the dog whistle of religious freedom that has become the new favorite complaint among conservative Christians against LGBT rights activists. Says Bowers, "If I discriminate against or criticize you it's called religious freedom. If you return the favor, it's called persecution."
