The Five R’s of the Resistance:
- Resist: Protest on the streets, call senators and representatives, etc.
- Rebel: Run for office, GOTV (Get Out The Vote), support a progressive.
- Revolt: Change the laws, change the culture, build your communities.
- Rely: Trust that millions of others are fighting the good fight.
- Rest: Take care of yourself, we are in this for the long term.
WineRev’s Good and Goofy Notes
Watch for WineRev’s G&G notes in the comments to see what others went through, struggled with, and surmounted in the past. His G&G comments are mini Good News Roundups. You can find all his comments here, even today’s, once he posts it. Tech Tip: You can search for >>> in Roundups to quickly find his comments.
WineRev, last Sunday:
Our very own 2thanks of Sunday Roundup fame noted above:
This afternoon, I plan to go to a party for all the Democratic precinct delegates in my county.
Being the 17th of March, and it being a Democratic precinct delegate party, no doubt the Irish will be well represented (first hint: the green beer). And because its a Democratic party for the party, there will be refreshments, good talk, good cheer, good support and very likely a good time. IOW there will be a party for the Party delegates who know how to party.
This is SUCH a contrast these days to the GQP, which has very different parties. THOSE parties feature 50-year-old Scotch….for the organizers before the doors open. Ethnic groups that ain’t ‘Murikan’ will be scarce and scanty. The refreshments will be cheap and sugar-caked, and the talk will ALL be one way (“We talk and you listen. We order and you obey.”) There will be good support------because while there is no charge for admission, there is an Exit Fee: your pocket money, bank account routing number, ATM pin---— because any way you contribute, (even buying your refreshments or that bag of truck stop chips) a lawyer will get a fee…..FOR a client. The fact that now all GQP events are held, either virtually or in real time, in the Ballroom Blitz Ballroom of the Hotel California (“you can check out any time you like/ but you can never leave….”) SHOULD be warning enough, but……
Now, if you turn all those moments around from the last paragraph, you get the Gnuville Breakfast Brunch here at the Sunday Good News Round Up. The place is decked out for St. Patrick’s Day, yet there is a display of various snakes under warming lamps (as apology to the squirming reptiles for St. Patrick banishing them from Ireland…...OTOH, the opening History Corner entry may offer a rather different take.)
But there are beverages of choice, hot or cold, regular or Irish-spiked (mint leaves or…...) and loads of wonderful breakfast items popping out of toasters, beeping out of microwaves, or sizzling in the pan (even baking in the casserole dish. Here at the SageHagRN abode with WineRev Annex, re-hearted corned beef and cabbage from last night’s dinner has an encore performance as breakfast :-)
So find yourself a “feet up” spot, wiggle your toes, run your fingers over the keyboard, and come have a look at the Good News of today. Your comments, additions, replies, funnies, and even wandering tangents are all part of the fun and interest and support around here, so….Good to See Ya! C’mon in! And Thank You 2thanks for getting us going! YAY!
Science
FDA approves mirvetuximab soravtansine-gynx for FRα positive, platinum-resistant epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer.
On March 22, 2024, the Food and Drug Administration approved mirvetuximab soravtansine-gynx (Elahere, ImmunoGen, Inc. [now a part of AbbVie]) for adult patients with FRα positive, platinum-resistant epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer, who have received one to three prior systemic treatment regimens. Patients are selected based on an FDA-approved test. Mirvetuximab soravtansine-gynx previously received accelerated approval for this indication.
Ashley Strickland, CNN:
Astronomers have used the Gaia space telescope to spy some of the first building blocks of the Milky Way galaxy: two ancient streams of stars named Shakti and Shiva that helped our home galaxy grow and evolve more than 12 billion years ago.
Named after Hindu deities, the star streams appear to be the remnants of two galaxies that merged with an early version of the Milky Way between 12 billion and 13 billion years ago when the first galaxies were forming across the cosmos. The structures are so old that they formed well before the most ancient parts of the Milky Way’s iconic spiral arms and central disk.
Please share good science news with us! (Especially JSWT, health, environment.)
A good place to look for science news if you are waiting for the Sunday Roundup is the archive of Overnight News Digest. On Saturdays, the OND always focuses on science, though not all of it is devoted to what I would call Good Science News.
Need more good news?
… arhpdx posted a list of good news sites toward the top of a recent Roundup, or you can find that same list in my comment: Good News Sources. Thank you, arhpdx and Mokurai!

You can use the map’s zoom arrows to resize the view and focus on your pin to find neighbors. Please note that the Google Map, though convenient to operate, is visually inaccurate because, among other issues, it enlarges North America and shrinks Africa [Maps present a distorted view of the world by kos].

Tech Talk for Kosacks
- Load-More Workaround: On a desktop or laptop, to banish the Daily Kos Load More buttons, click this link, which opens the main Daily Kos page and shuts off the Load More buttons at the same time. You must Reload any open Daily Kos pages. After that, you’re good to go, but you may need to come back here and click that link again in a few weeks. According to the DK Help Desk, the “Load More” option also resets the user back to the display of the old-style, React comments.

A Little Bit About Me
Sorry, rough night last night, going to be brief.
I went to that gathering to thank precinct delegates in Washtenaw County last Sunday, and met a few electeds, and found out something very interesting (and not in a good way) about cutting turf. I shared that with the local campaign I’m supporting. I also asked that campaign's manager to make me an ActBlue page for donations. More next week.
As I said, rough night last night. I may have to disappear for a while and catch up on Z’s.
Our Roundup is almost open!
Thank you for fighting for truth and justice with all us Gnusies! 40% of our Readers don’t visit every day, 50% of us do, and 10% are here for the first time! We all do what we can. For 5 years, we’ve shared positive news, laughed, organized, resisted, rebelled, revolted without being revolting, relied, rested, mentored, created, crossed rivers, chewed our cud, puffed methane out both ends, and laughed. Here’s looking at you, kid, and standing upwind! Beginners, you are cordially invited to comment!
As always, please share more Good News than I can find or provide.
This is a group diary, and by my power I declare this Good Gnus Salo(o)n open! Let the good-news sharing and community building begin!
Power with, not power over ❤️ ✊ ❤️
2thanks (he, him)
