This is my first diary, but I think I have a pretty good idea, so I want to share it. I've been volunteering at Kerry Campaign headquarters here in my oh-so-red state, but I kept wondering if there was something else I could do to help make a difference. Then I had a brain flash---Fahrenheit 9/11 is coming out Oct. 5th. So, I've pre-ordered a copy, and when it gets here, I'm making sure as many people as possible see it. I know two sociology and one political science professor at the local community college. One said he'd show it to his classes for sure, and the other two said they'd consider showing it if they could watch it ahead of time. The woman who teaches political science said that several of her students had requested that they see and discuss it for class, so I think she'll at least be willing to show excerpts. I'm also going to loan it out to anyone else who I can persuade to give it a look.
I know that I had planned to vote for ABB from the beginning, but it was only after watching Fahrenheit 9/11 that I got PO'd enough to get out and actually campaign, so I have high hopes that seeing it will make a difference with others as well. I think Bush's "Some people call you the privileged and elite; I call you my base" (I'm quoting from memory here) comment will make some blood boil amongst the mostly lower middle class students at the community college.
Hey, every little bit helps.
