A vast majority of the country listed
moral values as their top issue. Supposedly, 80% of those voted for Bush.
HOW IN HELL can one of the most IMMORAL administrations in our history win (assuming current CW is right about the results)?
Lots of people in blogosphere are blaming it on gays push for equality. Unbelieveable. Saying things like that is immoral. Assuming no miracle occurs, we didn't lose because of the push for some measure of equality. We lose (assuming no miracle) because of...
...Framing! We sucked at it.
(This is my 1st diary - please be kind).
I'm so depressed/angry as well as exhausted after working the streets in NH yesterday. The feeling on the streets there had me feeling upbeat as I headed home to await the results. I guess we managed to pull NH into Kerry's column, but it just wasn't enough. Thank you to all the volunteers and staff across the country that did what you could (GOTV, contributers of money). Could we have done more? Personally, I refuse to feel guilty as I did what I could.
Today, I struggle to keep my eyes open at the office as I am confronted with the probability of another 4 years of their madness. Four years that are likely to adversely affect the next several generations (deficit, supreme court, the environment). Am I really so wrong in my values? Compared to the "majority" of Americans, I guess so.
What happened to the youth vote? Reports say only 1 in 10 voted? This makes no sense to me.
What happened to the massive turnout? Yes, it was large; NPR reported it would be about 120 million (and that's what I expected) compared to 102.5M in 2000. But Bush, Kerry, and Nader together amount only to about 113 million so far. Where's the other 7 million? It's certainly not minor candidates; they were less than 1 million in 2000 and it is surely smaller this time. So I am left to doubt the 120M figure. Even at 113-115, that's a huge jump over 2000 (10%). I thought that if it was 115+ that we would win.
Moral values... Framing... sigh.
Hoping for a miracle...
