Now that's what I call a nanny scandal (from the UK):
Blunkett Quits Ahead of Election Reuters
Senior government minister David Blunkett has resigned, ripping a hole in Prime Minister Tony Blair's team months before an expected general election...
...Blunkett's resignation follows weeks of allegations that he abused his position as Home Secretary (interior minister) to fast-track a visa for the nanny of his former lover.
An inquiry into that allegation has yet to report but Blunkett said on Wednesday the visa process had been inadvertently accelerated.
Blunkett has already been involved in a sex scandal with a married woman and (apparently) fathered her child. Still to come... revelations of his mob connections and illegal business dealings.
Note that in other countries a nanny scandal is what actually brings down a political leader; it's not simply used as a smokescreen for criminal activity.
