We have been given the mission, the road map and we've been empowered to take the action. For those who hear the call and rise up on this very special Martin Luther King Day celebration of his life, we should understand deeply that his life was monitored by the illegal snooping and wiretapping just exactly like that which this administration is doing to us.
Former Vice President Gore's speech was a call for revolution, for SPEAKING UP and YELLING OUT to these criminals that we won't let them do this one more day! We have to BECOME revolutionaires.
The first thing, in my opinion, is to actually PUSH the Senate to filibuster. We were just empowered and given the reponsibility of saving America. There is nobody else, other that Carter or Clinton perhaps who could communicate the severity of the crisis we're in. I just sat here and cried as he spoke. Because I trust the American people, I feel they will have the courage to rise up and STOP them.
Here is the quote from Bob Barr, former Republican Congressman, "The President dared the American people to do something about it, and I hope they will."
I didn't catch one of the action steps, but here are the ones I got:
- The Attorney General must IMMEDIATELY appoint a special council to investigate the Executive branch of our government.
- We must pass new whistleblower legislation for members of the Executive Branch so they can come forward and be protected.
- Congress must ABSOLUTELY say NO to the Patriot Act until this investigation is underway and we understand what is going on.
- Any telecommunications provider that is allowing the government access to information without a warrent MUST cease and decist immediately. The Internet should be protected from large media conglomerates.
There was another one, but I missed it.
