Tocquedeville says our power, our ability to reform our democratic party is in our ability to threaten to defect. And I can see that point. But in this case am I to threaten to abandon Boxer in the next cycle to get back at Inouye and Akaka in Hawaii?
The most liberal democrat voters tend to be in the same states as the most liberal democrat senators, so the people most ideologically suited to act on this threat are (in number, if not in passion, pace MSOC, Tocquedeville, Vgebert, et al) the ones that have the least influence on the eighteen.
nose, face, spite, and so on.
Now some of those eighteen might have felt pro-life pressure from their constituents. Others may have sniffed the air and decided it wasn't politically expedient to have a spine at this juncture.
But some were bought.
What was promised to them for their votes? Pork projects? Can we find out and do our best to make certain they go down in very public flames?
I think it's time for a bitchslap.
