My son is a Marine and he's on his way back to Iraq for his second tour of duty tomorrow.
I'm an Army Gulf War vet and I've been bothered non-stop by the military to re-up for the last two years but I refuse to do so because I hate this war and what it stands for and I feel that I can do more for my country by staying home and working to bring our guys home from this pre-emptive war of choice.
I don't talk politics with my son because I want him to concentrate on his job at hand, he know's how I feel about this damn war and he feels the same but I'm feeling pretty angry and sad right now....and I'm also feeling helpless.
How do you feel about Iraq right now?
Burden In My Hand - Soundgarden
My lyrics
Follow W. into the desert
As thirsty as you are
Crack a smile and cut your mouth
And drown in alcohol
Cause down below the truth is lying
Beneath the riverbed
So quench yourself and drink his water
That flows below W.'s head
Oh, no there he goes
Out in the sunshine the sun is his
I shot my love today, will W. cry for me?
I lost my head again, will he lie for me?
We left him in the sand just a burden in W's hand
I lost my head again, would you cry for me?
Close your eyes and bow your head
W. needs a little sympathy
Cause fear is strong and love's for everyone
Who isn't him
So kill your health and kill yourself
And kill everything you love
And if you live you can fall to pieces
And suffer with W.'s ghost
Just a burden in W.'s hand
Just an anchor on my heart
Just a tumor in my head
And I'm in the dark
So follow W. into the desert
As desperate as you are
Where the moon is glued to a picture of heaven
And all the little Wingnut pigs have their God
