I have a confession to make; I was busy yesterday and didn't have a chance to catch my Congressman Pete Hoekstra's confession that he was the source of Joe Klein's ridiculous claims about the FISA bill.
I did have a pretty good excuse for missing the lying Dutchman's confession though; I was busy all day cooking for a fundraising dinner that raised funds for Pete's opponent (and my friend) Scott Killips.
Imagine my surprise to find that Pete's been a busy busy little Dutchman while he's been holed up in his cozy little corner of Dumfukistan. Not only had Pistol Pete been furiously writing a masterpiece of utter bullshit in the form of an op-ed for the National Journal, but he'd also been sharing his expert advice with Joe Klein.
I find myself wanting the answers to a few questions after reading the Lying Dutchman's op-ed...
The biggest question being:
Would someone please tell me how Pete Hoekstra became such a foreign intelligence expert?
How exactly did a furniture guy become the end all-be all of all things concerning the gathering of foreign intelligence and national security?
Is the furniture industry secretly seething with unknown feats of espionage and daring-do? Are we ordinary peons not involved in the furniture industry simply unaware of all the life-saving work and intelligence collecting that has done on our behalf by the furniture industry?
Is it possible there are super-secret roving bands of furniture-manufacturing assassins skulking about the hinterlands of Pakistan on a hunt for bin Ladin?
Why has the liberal media not shared with us the epic tales of the furniture industry's heroic planet saving acts? I wonder... Did the National Enquirer stumbled upon the secret covenant of furniture-manufacturing assassins and had to be made an example of?
Just how on earth did guy who's only prior work experience was in the furniture industry become an expert in the various methods of intelligence gathering, National security, and foreign policy?
A. One would think that being an expert on "Intelligence gathering" would require said "expert" to actually possess intelligence.
B. How in the hell does a furniture guy that has no experience whatsoever in the gathering and examination of intelligence become an "expert" on all things concerning intelligence gathering and analysis???
