Dear Innocent Iraqis,
Now that we have a new President, it’s time for this letter.
Here in the USA, we have a government system where Congress represents, and is supposed to act on, the will of "We The People". Only Congress can declare war on behalf of the American people.
In 2001/2002, our former President and his staff made a conscious choice to manipulate our political system and entered into a long written plan by neo-cons on how to invade your country under the pretense of protection from your "WMDs". Their plan was to rape, pillage and plunder Iraq for the oil reserves and to force a permanent base in the area to insure the oil will always be in control of their friends/family in the oil industry rather than the Iraqi people.
However, they did so at the expense of America as well. Our military and economy are damaged, our children and grandchildren will be paying the "war on credit" bill off, and our citizens are divided. Our domestic policy has been non-existent. The fact is three quarters of Americans are not very happy with the results of the former administration’s choices.
Now that we have a new face in the Oval Office, we have a new direction to follow in order to clean up the mess our predecessor made. Unfortunately, remaining in Iraq full force is not a viable option. It is time for all Iraqis to learn how to live together in peace. This is not something someone can do for you. You have to do it yourselves. We hope it does not include a full scale civil war, but if that is your way, your only way, then so be it. You will remain in our prayers.
We cannot go back in time and change anything. We can only do the best we can now. I promise you we will work with people around the world to get them involved with helping you resolve your issues. We want you to become a peaceful country and a welcome participating member of the global society and economy.
To all the innocent Iraqi people, I sincerely apologize on behalf of all the Americans who knew from the beginning that the invasion of Iraq would be a massive mistake. We tried our best to stop them from opening this Pandora’s Box, but they refused to listen. I am deeply sorry we failed you.
With My Deepest Sympathy,
The new President of the United States of America
PS - To the bad guys in Iraq (and Afghanistan & Pakistan), you can run but you can’t hide forever. We’re still coming after you. That means you too, bin laden.
