As the Politico reported yesterday, the RNC has spend around $150,000 on clothes and accessories for Sarah Palin and her family. Note that Sarah Palin didn't spend her own money on all these fancy clothes and jewellery, it was someone else's money. And who's money was it? YOUR money. If you have contributed to the McCain-Palin campaign, it was your money. But as the McCain-Palin campaign has accepted public financing, it wasn't only campaign donors' money. It was also taxpayers' money. YOUR money.
And what can you buy with $150,000, except buy expensive clothes in "anti-American" places like New York, probably from "unAmerican foreign" brands*?
Sarah Pain could have bought new cars for herself and her husband and her two children who are old enough to drive, plus a new snowmobile and a truck to transport it in.
She could have bought enough petrol, even at the current prices, to drive more than a million miles in those cars, more than the average American drives in a lifetime.
She could have paid for college tuition for four of her kids.
She could have paid of 30% of the cost of her half a million dollar home.
If she didn't have health insurance from the state, as she does, she could have paid 12 years or so of top class health insurance for her family.
And even worse, in those few shopping sprees, in those two, three, four days of shopping, she spend more on clothing and jewellery than the entire salary she receives as governor of Alaska in a year.
Do you want someone who is so irresponsible with someone else's money, with YOUR money, that she spends more money on clothes in a week than she makes in a year, more than the average American family makes in THREE years, anywhere near the treasury filled with tax money, YOUR money?
I wouldn't think so.
