Hi Everybody:
We have one week left.
Yes you can still make a difference in this election.
If you're an American overseas, and you have not received your ballot YOU MUST SEND IN YOUR EMERGENCY WRITE IN BALLOT NOW! If you have any questions about how to do that, go here: Americans Abroad for Obama.
and follow me below for more motivation...
Please Phonebank Back Home!
The Republican Party is hard at work on the same vote caging and contesting tactics we saw in the last two presidential elections, with some new ones thrown in, as well. The Republicans are also phonebanking and using robocalls and vote suppression tactics to turn off Obama voters.
Their actions are sick: and your actions are the remedy!
Overwhelming voter turnout is key to making sure that Obama wins this election. We can each do our part to make sure this happens - no matter where we live.
PHONEBANK FROM HOME TO HELP US WIN THE WHITE HOUSE!
You can phone voters in the US from home:
Go to Obama's website
- Create an account or log into your account, and you can begin calling.
- The service is set up to give you the name of the voter and phone number in groups of 10 or so with a script to follow and a form to fill out during the call.
- You can choose to call certain states or specific types of voters.
- You can make as many calls as you’d like.
- You can also phonebank via the Moveon.org site if you are a member.
- You can make calls via Skype, via your mobile phone, using a telephone card, or via your home landline.
A Boost of Energy
We’ve all been adding our campaign activities to already-busy lives, in a very tough time – I know it’s not easy. If you feel your energy flagging, please listen to this Mp3 from This American Life (TAL). It’s called ‘Ground Game’, and it lasts for about an hour. The program reveals sobering Get Out the Vote experience on the ground in Pennsylvania, for both campaigns. I hope that it will help give us all the energy we need to make that phone call, send that email, send that Letter to the Editor, make that blog post that helps to give folks back home the motivation and information they need to vote early if possible, and to hang in there at the election office even if they need to resolve problems, and help others go to the polls on Nov. 4.
As Kos says:
One of my favorite cyclists likes to say, "Leave everything on the road", meaning that when he crosses the finish line, he will have burned every last ounce of energy in his body. If he falls short? No regrets because he gave it his all, every last bit of it.
Now is the time to leave everything on the road.
And thank you, for all that you do.
Terri
