When Bush introduced First Ammendment Zones to Americans and the press was meekly silent, I knew we were in for a bumpy ride. Since then we have all become used to the fact that dissenters, even polite ones, are no welcome at Republican events. Well today, John Sydney McCain did Bush one better.
His minions actually ejected audience members from a campaign rally because of the way they looked You can find the whole sad story here. Even the McCain people who asked for the removal of the suspects admitted that they had done nothing wrong.
Zarifis said while the people who were taken out weren’t protesting or causing problems, McCain’s staff were worried they would during the speech.
"Apparently, they had been identified by those staffers as potential protesters within the event," Zarifis said
One ejectee said that McCain staffers refused to give any reason for their actions.
"When I started talking to them, it kind of became clear that they were kind of just telling people to leave that they thought maybe would be disruptive, but based on what? Based on how they looked," Elborno said. "It was pretty much all young people, the college demographic."
The staffer's mind reading skills were somewhat lacking, however.
"I saw a couple that had been escorted out and they were confused as well, and the girl was crying, so I said ‘Why are you crying? and she said ‘I already voted for McCain, I’m a Republican, and they said we had to leave because we didn’t look right,’"
Too bad she'd already voted. I bet she won't make that mistake again. If we need any further proof that these people are not fit to govern, this is it.
