I had just voted and had gotten quite emotional. I was composing myself in my car and turned on the radio to the local talk/news/traffic station.
The "Sports Guy" was about to come on to discuss the Monday Night Football appearances of Obama and McCain. The news anchors were just wrapping up early election news, and introduced the Sports Guy. What he said possibly made me angrier than I have ever been.
The Sports Guy, Pat Walsh, asked the anchors, "So, if Obama is elected, will he take the oath of office on a Bible or the Koran?" There was a momentary silence, and one of the anchors said, "He's a Christian...I think it would be a Bible". Then Pat Walsh did his sports report, after which one of the anchors, Amy Lewis, said that there had been several calls asking he would ask such a question. Pat said that he was just curious, and it was his "own ignorance".
I called the station and said the Sports Guy should stick to sports. Why didn't he just go ahead and say what he really wanted to..."yeah, everyone, go out and vote, but vote McCain because Obama is a Muslim terrorist!" The station is KFBK in Sacramento. They are a Fox affiliate, but I listened for local news and traffic during my commute. I told them I would never listen again. For chrissakes, Pat Walsh works for a NEWS staion, and he claims ignorance about a topic that was covered for most of the campaign?
I added my voice to other callers. I urge all of you in the Sacramento area and beyond to do the same.
