I am trying to be a national delegate for Barack Obama from the state of Minnesota.
I was nominated at my Congressional district convention but didn't get elected.
My first speech was about my resume as a state party member and it didn't inspire anyone, even my own county delegation. I have one more chance and I thought I would get some feedback from my fellow Kossacks.
here it is.
My name is Pat Dodge, that's D O D G E just like the car.
All of the gentlemen standing here are more than qualified to represent Minnesota at the national convention in Denver, but this isn't about us, it is about Senator Barack Obama.
I watched Barack Obama give the keynote speech at the 2004 national convention and I told everyone I talked to that I had seen the man that would be our first African American President.
I then saw Senator Obama at our Humphrey day dinner in 2006 and I realized that he wasn't just another smooth talking politician. He was helping the DFL raise money for state candidates and giving our candidates a bigger platform to reach voters.
Then I attended a rally at St. Louis Park and I witnessed Barack helping Amy to join him as a U.S. senator.I got a chance to hear his story and he impressed me with his candor.
I missed out on most of JFK's leadership and ability to inspire But I remember the results of his ideas. Like the Apollo missions to the moon and the generation of kids that worked for change.
I see this leadership in Barack, His ability to talk to us like adults and to lift us up from the small mindedness and petty bickering of partisan politics. To restore a vision of the American dream we all can be proud of. I am a willing volunteer in this movement to rebuild our country and regardless of today's outcome I will continue to support Senator Obama in his endeavor to become the next president of the united states.
Thank you for your time and your service to our party.
Thanks
