...and 'the media love Obama' because of the number of articles written, newscasts aired and opinion shows broadcast are some of the forked tongue remarks made by the devious among the media.
When Katie Couric can alter the broadcast version of a John McCain interview to protect his image, when Scarborough can dedicate an entire show to discussing whatever negative-to-Obama talking point the GOP has issued that day, when Gallup polls are manipulated to the extent of mis-counting the numbers of democrats, republicans and independents to reflect a picture that is intentionally skewed toward McCain, then we have met the enemy and, contrary to what Pogo said, he ain't us.
ON one of MSNBC's shows yesterday, a pundit was reduced to asking in effect, if one ignores the fact that the gas ad and the troop visit attacks by McCain are false, inaccurate and misleading, will they still have an impact on Obama's campaign?
Dr. Maddow, on that show yesterday rebutted it best by saying, in effect, How does an intelligent person fight this? How does one respond to attacks where facts don't matter?. I agree. Facts matter.
BTW, Bush referred recently to the financial crisis facing this country by calling Wall Street drunks. He said they metaphorically got drunk and he wondered how long it would take for them to sober up. Well this is great imagery! I wonder how effective it would be to picture Bush and Alan Greenspan as bartenders serving up massive drinks to Halliburton, KBR, Bectel and, now, Bear Stearns, Countrywide and the other 'bailed out' corporations. Subsequent versions could have folks like Cheney driving delivery trucks containing crates of liquor and kegs of beer.
George and Alan's Bar. Happy hour all the time! Extensive tabs available for qualified (GOP) customers.
One more thing: If Wall Street got drunk, are the bailouts Alka Seltzer and coffee or are they another round of double martinis?
