You too can be a convention spinmeister. Anyone count how many(mostly conservative) pundits came up with the criticism that Hillary's speech "still didn't say Barack was qualified to be president?" So many that it wasn't a big surprise when the McCain campaign's official response also said this. A few commentators managed to actually show some original thought but not many.
Below I've listed the featured speakers and my predictions. How about everyone make some guesses and rate yourself afterwards?
Harry Reid, Ken Salazar, Jay Rockefeller, Richard Daley-Their speeches likely won't be commented on except if they get some applause or frowns from Bill Clinton. Instead, they'll be giving interviewing a Clinton delegate about the roll call.
Tom Daschle, Bill Richardson, John Kerry-Will be discussed in terms of their support of Barack Obama during the primary season. Pundits will make reference to varying degrees of red meat. Obligatory discussion of Bill Clinton rifts with these speakers will ensue.
Robert Wexler-Since he's a great speaker, we'd be lucky if we actually get to see any of this. However, I predict a riff on him wanting to impeach Bush and interviews with other delegates about this.
James Clyburn-Discussion of the breach with Bill Clinton.
Patrick Murphy, Tammy Duckworth-Probably will ignore both of them or refer to them as a couple of Iraq veterans.
Bill Clinton-No matter what he says, the spin will be that he's still fuming, was dissed by Obama and didn't do enough/say enough or else that he didn't mean what he said. Oh yeah, he talked too long about himself and cut into Biden's time.
Joe Biden-upstaged by Bill Clinton, but otherwise generally positive. Conservative pundits will weigh in that he has more command of the issues than Obama. The words "gaffe potential" will be mentioned at least once.
