I made my first real monetary contribution to Senator Obama's Presidential campaign today.
I bought some car magnets last month, but this was my first cash donation. (Should get a free magnet out of this one too)
(Yes, I know I've accused Yellow Ribbon magnet holders of being wishy-washy, but hey, I flip flopped)
Anyway. My donation came with a little advise for Senator Obama.
You know how your parents used to like to give you a little lecture with your allowance? Here's mine.
(after the fold)
Senator, Obama.
Please don't change your speaking style to suit the Republicans.
Over the past few days I have heard you speak and falter a little. It seems like you are trying to control your rhetoric.
As you well know the primary strategy of the Republicans is to attack an opponent's strength. This worked well for Karl Rove against Senators Gore and Kerry.
Besides your wisdom and intelligence, what most Americans like about you, what draws them to you is your oratory ability.
The Republicans fear this, that is why they attack you for speaking well. John McCain has never stirred anyone with a speech. Sarah Palin cannot make someone walk away from a speech feeling good about himself and good about America. They do not know how to instill pride and hope in their listeners.
While it might be reasonable to use less lofty rhetoric, it does not make sense to back away from your strength.
Please remember this: American voters do not vote because they THINK they should, they vote because the FEEL they should. (This was the downfall of Gov. Dukakis and Senator Kerry.)
Stick to you strengths please. People will WANT to vote for you if you do.
Thank you.
People were not drawn to Senator Obama's campaign because he can snipe like Palin or lie like McCain.
They the less gifted speakers do their best to undermine his skills.
The republicans have used this trick time and again.
John Kerry was not enough of a war hero.
Al Gore was not smart enough
Hillary Clinton was... (well they called her a lot of things - I'll go with a ) "FemiNazi".
Now they are trying to paint the African American guy as an elitist. They are trying to make the brilliant orator look like a fool.
remember: Karl Rove has never won by playing by the rules. He has always won by cheating and divisiveness.
When they tell us that our Candidate is wrong for having a better view of our beloved Nation that the petty hatred in which the Republicans are mired, we will tell them, that they are blind.
I want people to walk into the voting booths of this country feeling good about America and feeling good about what a Democratic Administration lead by Barack Obama can do for them.
