Back in the days of the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln's biggest thorn (at least in the North) was George McClellan. Lincoln wanted action, battles, victories. McClellan always wanted more troops. Lincoln said to others privately that McClellan has the "slows". McClellan had more troops than the opposition, but McClellan refused to fight until he had even more resources. Finally that US President got so exasperated that he fired McClellan for good, then whipped his butt in the 1864 Presidential Election.
The Democrats have large majorities in both the House and Senate. The people want action. The majority in the Senate is as large as its been in 35 years. Yet Dems complain that they don't have enough troops. This health insurance bill should have been done 9 months ago. I don't understand when Senators have been in the Congress for 30+ years that it takes that LONG to get it done. When CEO's want to put a complicated deal together they hammer out a deal over the weekend.
Enough!!! When Barack Obama was campaigning for the Presidency the Senate was virtually split 51-49. When he made the promises he had no idea he would be given a 60-40 Senate. It is time for President Obama (who I support) to take the number of troops that he has been given and go to battle.
Lincoln had his triumphs and trials along the way. But he was only focused on victory and did whatever it took (legally most of the time). Rahm Emmanuel referred to the motto, "Never waste a crisis". It certainly appears to me that is exactly what this administration has done. They have dithered away alot of time and show very little for it.
