Todays Supreme Court ruling allowing Corporations to spend freely on Campaign ads is a kick in the ass to the idea of a Democracy of, by, and for the people. The move to Corporate ownership of America just got a whole lot easier.
But we can fight back. We can organize the growing movement of discontent. We can fight back with our pocket books and through grass roots politics. Here's how we can fight:
- The consumer drives 2/3's of the American economy. Donate to campaigns and politicians that fight for the people, and not Corporate master's.
- Join the ranks of the frugal. Avoid big Brand names. Buy from your small local businesses. Shop at your local grocer. Buy locally grown produce. Buy second hand high gas mileage American made cars. Car pool, walk, ride your bike. Use less energy and support your American union members at the same time. Cut your CO2 footprint while also putting the screws to big oil, gas, and coal.
- Spend less. Save. Help your fellow man survive through donations to worthy causes. Give to people, not to Corporations.
- Move your money out of the big banks. The corrupt practice of trading useless derivatives derived from selling and packaging loans that should never have been written, started with the big banks. They capitalized all their profits over the last decade, then socialized all their losses at a time when the American people could not afford the debt burden. Shut your accounts with Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Citigroup, JP Morgan, Chase, or any other large multi-national institution. Move your money to a community, state, or other local bank or credit union.
- If you have a choice and are fortunate enough to have health insurance, transfer your health insurance to a non-profit company that provides good service to their customers. There are a few out there. Do your homework. If your choice is non-profit Kaiser Permanente or for profit Humana or Blue Cross/Blue Shield, chose Kaiser Permanente.
- Pay off your debt. End the cycle of carrying a balance on your credit cards. The banks and credit card companies make their money on these fees and keeping people in debt. They then use that money to fight against you in the form of lobbying. Now they will also use that money to control the airwaves, and further buy off politicians and votes. Fight back. Save your interest money that they are collecting every month, only to use against you in order to keep you in perpetual servitude.
- Organize, talk, share ideas, get involved politically, fight back at the grass roots level. Its about all we have left folks.
Today it gets just that much harder to take our country back, but we cannot go down without fighting back!
