It's a simple question for all Republican candidates. Specifically the three in Wisconsin that impact me directly. Ribble for congress, Johnson for senate, and Walker for Governor.
Where and when in your plan do I go back to work????
I'm not talking about some service job or temp assignment. I am talking about a real job that pays a living wage and has benefits so I can stay healthy enough to reach Medicare age.
In my opinion it is better for our economy and America as a whole if we have 30 people making $33,000 instead of 1 person making a $million.
Let's use some simple math to illustrate this idea.
$1 million = 30 people making $33,000 =$15.86 hr
$1 billion(1000 million) = 30,000 people making $33k
$1 trillion/5year plan = 200 billion = 6 million people
working for a living wage for 5 years.
$1 trillion(1000 billion) = yearly corporate profits for the last 4 years during the worst economy since the great depression. This is corporate profits after they pay the workers and the overhead and the bloated CEOs.
Over a trillion dollars in profit. Every year since 2007.
My story is not unique but it should illustrate how messed up things have gotten in this country.
I had a great education from my high school with grades good enough to get into any state college.
I served 4 years in the Wisconsin National Guard.
I had a good union job until Reagan was elected and the economy for me and many like me tanked.
I served my country for 7 years in the US Army until Cheney reduced forces and I was forced out.
I got another union job while I was going to school but that barely paid the bills.
I moved back home and started over.
I got a great union job as a paper maker and I thought I was set for life.
We got bought out by a foreign company and I was downsized again.
We struggled through 2 years of retraining at the local tech college to get an associates degree.
I got another good job out of state but that only lasted 3 years.
I have been underemployed since 2007.
To recap:
I served my state, I served my country, I have a technical degree, and I have years of experience. If this economy isn't working for me it isn't working!
I have watched the Republicans stall and block legislation that would put people back to work and I have only the one question.
Where and when in your plan do I go back to work????
