I don't get it. I really don't. And given the current atmosphere at DKos, I don't expect anyone to feel compelled to Rec this diary, even if they agree with me.
Here it is, though.
I must have seen the Census commercial 20 times. 2.5 million dollars for a Super Bowl commercial on the Census? More money to keep running it during the Olympics? It doesn't even make sense.
Ed Begley: I want to paint a picture of America. All 300 million Americans.
No Name Actor: Isn't that what the Census is?
Full commercial, here:
The primary purpose of a commercial is to sell a product, right? How does this poorly made commercial, using some high dollar actors, promote the Census, or encourage people to participate?
It doesn't. It is a waste of money.
I have to believe that the President, or Rahm, watched the Super Bowl and are watching the Olympics. Do they think that this was a proper use of taxpayer money? I would love to know how much this cost.
This is a shining example of how poorly this Administration communicates on important issues at times. Health care? Guess what we want. The Census? Figure out what we meant with that commercial.
If you want someone to follow you, you need to show them where you are going. Artsy fartsy "guess what we mean" style communication is worthless.
Somebody needs to read some Cicero.
