I live in eastern Pennsylvania. North of Philadelphia. I have four kids. I am 51 years old and I always vote Republican. But not only that, I also apply the larger Republican platform and values to my personal life. I'm sort of a microcosm of Republicanism. And this is the story of my personal life as a Republican, actually living the values and ideas that I vote for.
I had a comfortable upbringing, but I am a fiscal conservative so I didn't go to college because that would have required me to spend too much money that I didn't have. So I jumped into the workforce right out of 11th grade, actually. I figured, what's one more year of pubic edcuation gonna teach me that I kan't teach my self? I've had a few jobs through the years but usually ended up quitting because at some point in the job I was asked to compromise. Like that time in 1996 when I was asked/forced to share an office with some gay guy. NO! What is this, France? F that. I was not sticking around to see that company crumble to hell.
But enough about my entry level marketing job at Apple. Today, I work in a small window company. There's fifteen of us and the company is pretty successful: the CEO is a great guy. You gotta meet him. He makes over $1,000,000 a year. Everyone else makes between $35,000 and $60,000. The benefits used to be better but they're still not awful. We had to take some cuts last year to keep the doors open. The company contributes about $2000 to my 401K every year. But my health care benefits were dropped as part of the new business efficiency program.
Truth be told, I liked Obama's health plan at first. It'd have be nice to have some insurance for the family. But then I heard it could raise taxes on people like me. So I spent my weekends phone banking to tell others that their taxes might go up. It would have been nice to spend more time with the family the past few months but freakin' Obama and his tax me to death plan killed that idea. I'm not paying for poor, lazy people when I can barely afford to pay for my own health care to begin with.
F'ing Obama. Anyway, my financial adviser says that if I keep investing in the market and it keeps going up like it has so much this year, I'll be able to retire comfortably when I'm 76. I've been deeply invested in the market for a long time. It's the only way to go. Unless Obama fucks it up with his socialistic policies related to the economy.
Oh, listen to this. Last month there was a robbery in our neighborhood. We were all pretty freaked out so we took out a loan from some bank in Japan and we put up an 8 foot fence around the perimeter, installed a video alarm system, got another two rifles, and a bomb shelter. You can't be too secure when those people are out there. I know what you're thinking now: why would a fiscal conservative take out a $60000 loan? Two words: secure ity. The best part is that I got the loan at 3.5% for the first 3 years.
I think you should also consider applying Republican ideals to your personal life. It's a microcosm of happiness. That's for sure. That's what I tell myself when I cry myself to sleep every night. Right after I watch Sean Hannity.
God bless.
