The prospects of the U.S. innovating our way to renewed prosperity are illusory. Many of Silicon Valley's most innovative entrepreneurs manufacture their products abroad. Meanwhile, U.S. manufacturing employment has sunk to 11.7 million, the lowest since 1941. Unless America revitalizes manufacturing, the prospects for restoring middle class prosperity are dim. Panelists will discuss the scope of the challenge and the prospects manufacturing provides for creating good-paying U.S. jobs essential for economic recovery.
