Unfortunately, I was at a conference all weekend and had limited internet access, but this FP post by Joan just stuck in my head for some reason. I have decided I will email Cantor and CC Boehner every day until I get a response (unlikely) or get blocked as spam (much more likely). However, I think it will be more effective if I have their actual email addresses instead of going through the insipid contact form that each Rep has on his/her home page. Does anyone have any idea what their emails might be? I had to email my Rep 2 years ago to request WH tour tix, but unfortunately I don't have the email in my Sent folder anymore. I considered fax also, but email is quicker, free, and I feel like the Reps would be more likely to see them.
Below the squiggle is my letter. Constructive criticism greatly appreciated.
The Honorable Eric Cantor
Majority Leader, US House of Representatives
303 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515
Dear Representative Cantor-
My name is Michael Manning, and I reside in the State of Oregon, 1st Congressional District. Since the seat representing me is currently vacant, I decided to contact you directly.
On Friday, August 5th, you spoke to Jim Cramer of CNBC, regarding the latest unemployment information from the Department of Labor. Among your remarks was the following statement:
"Jim, the most important thing we can do for somebody who’s unemployed is to see if we can get them a job."
As an unemployed person, I appreciate your comments, rightfully recognizing the government's need to assist the unemployed in their job search. As such, I am attaching a copy of my résumé. Please pass it along to any individuals or organizations that you know of who are looking to hire. I thank you for your time and consideration.
Respectfully,
Michael Manning
cc: The Honorable John Boehner
Speaker, United States House of Representative
