“If I Could Turn Back Time”, (link to an oldie, an ode to the songwriter, not the performer, is provided below), that is the question my friends.
It’s a shame that high school students are not presented with this question, along with historical evidence. Oh, I know, many dedicated teachers dance lightly around the subject. Who can blame them? It’s like asking the question, why was Malcolm X murdered?
Without nuance, the answer is, I would execute Hitler. A few Germans tried. They had an internal, moral, value of life. The reality is that there is no time machine.
From (this is a condensed version) Jack the Ripper, to Hitler, Ted Bundy, Jeffery Dahmer, John Gacy, Rodney Acala, Richard Ramera, Timothy McVeigh, bin Ladin, Columbine, and most recently Anders Behring; we all want to know the why, and could this have been prevented. Troubled youths, perhaps abused, or neglected by parents and society? I don’t know.
I have read many myths surrounding murder. Including, “Cain slew Abel”. There is also my first hand experience with soldiers who are trained as killers. “Et tu, Brute”?
Just a theory on my part, another song below the fold, “Treat Your Children Well” (Crosby, Still, Nash and Young)
