The big news of the day is that the boys have decided it is not a good time to go on unemployment insurance. Comedy Central has announced that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have resigned (as in "to sign again" not "to quit") with the network for another two year hitch. Jon is good through the middle of 2015 and Stephen through the end of 2014. So we have two years before we reach Spoiler Armageddon and the proverbial comedy cliff.
The Spoiler Kitty thinks this is just great. "I was waiting for Viacom to make my day".
More on the other side of the dust bunny....
Last night I jumped the gun and complained about Jon's guests who are two comedians. You can read the screed if you care.
I have hope for tonight's show because Mitt Romwhiney complained about the Olympics in the nation of Great Britain [sic, si fecisti nega!] and he was comic material for even the British Prime Minister David Cameron. So I'm sure the boys will make the most of his gaffes. There was a great clip of Romney lecturing Ed Miliband who probably is thinking "Does he know my Dad was a Socialist firebrand?" (ref).
Peter Westmacott is the British (no not Great Britannic) Ambassador to the US. He will be on Stephen's show (hope he calls him "Steffen") and I'm sure Romney will come up in the discussion at some point or other. Perhaps he can remind us of how rural and backwaterish the 2002 Olympics were. They also have six lane highways in Utah with only six cars on it. Of course, the covered wagons will cause a four hour backup trying to get to work.
Romney was here today:
Image Caption (2005): I'm sorry, Sir, but I have to inform you that Margaret Thatcher has not lived here for some time. I am the current resident and I cannot let you in. I'm sure that you'll understand since I have young children and you, Sir, are the devil."
There is no "backside" to 10 Downing. At least, there's been no backside there since Cheney and Mitt left.
