Just when it seemed like Perry would turn tail, and head back to his Austin Palace, he is showing his true Texas grit by announcing that rumors of his demise are untrue. Disproving that he is a coward, Rick is climbing back into the ring, and hitching up his tight wrestling pantaloons. And Willard should beware. It looks like he'll have another Rick to contend with as well.
If there's anything Perry has, it's a backroom full of chits. 10 years of doing lucrative favors for his friends as governor has endeared him to Big Bucks. And he still has 3 years left in his term with which to wreak havoc on those who don't come through as he battles up the hill against all odds to save us from Obama.
Another thing about Perry is that he is a tear as a negative campaigner. It was a wonder to see him liken democrat Tony Sanchez, a staid Laredo banker, in a fusillade of last minute commercials, to a drug-dealing money launderer in the governor's race of 2002. Of course it stuck, since Tony is Mexican and this is Texas -- despite the scurrilous and false nature of the accusation.
It will be fun to see Perry go desperate in SC and FL against Willard (Santorum?) with Big bucks behind him.
