Came across this story today via The Sun newspaper.
Apparently, Mo Farah the Somalian-born British track athlete who won gold medals in both 5,000 and 10,000m events in London last summer was detained during his return to Portland where he currently lives.
Mo, 29, said: “I couldn’t believe it. Because of my Somali origin I get detained every time I come through US Customs. This time I even got my medals out to show who I am, but they wouldn’t have it.”
Apparently this isn't the first run in he has had with CBP. When he first moved to Portland, he had leave tothe US as they entered on a tourist visa, and return under the new visa that would permit them to stay.
However, when they were waiting to enter the US
“But when we were there we got a letter telling us we’re under investigation as a terrorist threat and we would have to stay away for 90 days.
It seems they were only able to resolve this matter because his new coach has contacts with the FBI.
