A few weeks ago I ran into a web video of MN officers (thank you Tim Pool of OWS Streaming fame) in a program called the Drug Recognition Evaluator program. It showed about 35 disturbing minutes of state troopers and sheriff’s deputies apparently asking people on the street to go with them to be part of this program. During the program it appears on the video that people go there not under the influence but come back high or otherwise impaired. I was disturbed being an X addiction professional thinking what are they doing.. It seems a health hazard to offer drugs to people outside of a clinical setting and then after your done just let them out on the street impaired. Furthermore they were dropping them off at the occupy movements area which I thought was a poor practice with possible political motives. I contacted AL Frankens office as well as the DEA and the State attorney’s office in MN where the film was shot. Well the short of it is they have suspended the program. I just thought the story deserved an update.
