Well, we didn't need this today.
In today's Greensboro News & Record, they've printed an AP article that attempts a balanced view on the subject but contains some misleading information. Today is the final voting day, and the PPP poll posted over the weekend did not look promising for a no vote. This kind of crap does not help. Allow me to select a few choice quotes over the squiggle.
Supporters of the amendment responded with marches, television ads and speeches, including one by Jay Bakker, son of late televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. The Rev. Billy Graham was featured in full-page newspaper ads backing the amendment.
You probably know what kind of weight Billy Graham and the televangelists have in North Carolina--considerable weight. But there's a little problem with their reporting: JAY BAKKER IS AGAINST AMENDMENT ONE. Need proof? Here you go, at 3:03:
Got that? Jay Bakker himself sent in a video requesting that North Carolinians vote NO.
Ok, so that little factual error was irritating enough, but then they have to go a step further and note this:
State House Speaker Thom Tillis, a Republican from a Charlotte suburb, said even if the amendment is passed, it will be reversed as today's young adults age.
"It's a generational issue," Tillis told a student group at North Carolina State University in March about the amendment he supports. "If it passes, I think it will be repealed within 20 years."
W. T. F. So this dickwad is encouraging a short-term political victory by MODIFYING THE CONSTITUTION, selling a yes vote by suggesting that amendment will eventually be repealed?
And then the AP has to repeat this utter bullshit?
It's an uphill battle today, folks, and media collusion is not helping.
