Next week Joy Behar will host Eliot Spitzer's Current TV show "Viewpoint" while he is on vacation. This guest appearance will set the stage for Behar's own show to be aired on Current beginning this fall. "The Joy Behar Show" will air Monday-Thursday at 6 p.m. ET in September, with the evening's show repeating during Current TV's primetime schedule.
Behar has a notable history of hosting interview and talk shows having previously welcomed guests to "The Joy Behar Show" on HLN, being a founding panel member of "The View" and guest hosting "Larry King Live."
According to CEO Joel Hyatt, "It'll be a different show, although her popularity on 'The View' is a huge asset for us."
The respect and affection that that enormously large audience has for her will hopefully follow to our platform." Though Behar is not widely known for political commentary, Hyatt said her show will make "political news easy to consume" for a broad audience thanks to her "wit, insight and sense of humor." "Much of what Joy cares about are political and social issues," Hyatt said. The addition of Behar, he said, is an example of Current's "aggressive, strategic" push for a competitive primetime lineup."
For Current TV and Joy Behar fans alike, this is excellent news.
