I'm only formulating this post because I want to put a certain term in my Tags list. The term, coined by Hunter, appeared in his front page diary yesterday.
The diary, essentially detailing a recent fund-raising letter by Rep. Paul Broun of Georgia, describes him as a 'crackpot.'
Today the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, in its PolitiaFact-Georgia column, gave Broun a False for claiming that he was the first member of congress to call President Obama a 'socialist.'
The AJC goes on the state that it's false because John McCain said the same thing as a candidtate in 2008 and Sen. George Voinavich did too.
The AJC's reference to Hunter (although not by name) came here:
Stories about Broun’s letter were published earlier this week by other news outlets and political pundits across the state.
The conservative political blog Georgia Tipsheet called the letter "a predictably confrontational fundraising appeal" and noted that Broun was among the earliest to attach the (socialist) barb to Obama. The liberal blog Daily Kos called Broun’s letter "crackpot haiku."
For those unaware of who Broun is - he's a crackpot. All you need to know is that he caters to, and is a 'darling' of, the tea party. Also, it's important to follow his upcoming campaign to win the senatorial primary contest for the soon-to-be vacated seat of Saxby Chambliss. Many Georgia Democrats would like to see Broun nominated. Me too.
A final observation that brings a very brief context. Hunter, who everyone knows has a way with words, (or is it whom everyone knows?...[shit]) was writing about Broun's fund-raising letter as 'childlike' in that it used simple sentences. And this syntax is described by Hunter as 'crackpot haiku.' There you have it. Broun is now beginning to be suitably defined by a succint, um tag, you might say.
