Oh boy, here we go again:
Arizona Sen. Rick Murphy, a foster and adoptive parent who identifies himself as a leader on child-welfare issues, is under investigation by Peoria police and state Child Protective Services for allegations he sexually abused children in his care, according to police records.
More discussion over the squiggly.
If these allegations are true, then this guy is one hell of an enterprising sexually depraved scumbag! Consider: as a child molester, what better kind of enterprise to be in than foster parenting? I mean it's like getting paid for access to a never-ending stream of young victims. Better yet, to appear beyond reproach, get elected to the State Legislature and focus your career on introducing...
dozens of child-welfare-related bills, including 10 this past session, many of which could benefit him and other foster and adoptive parents. This year, he fought unsuccessfully to increase state payments to foster parents.
Then work your way up to chair the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee and from that powerful position, be sure to browbeat Child Protective Services, one agency that just might then be deterred from investigating your proclivities.
Suspicions about Murphy apparently go back a couple of years but that investigation was dropped for lack of evidence. Now we have new allegations. I can't help but think that the previous investigation gave the powerful Sen Murphy the benefit of the doubt. Not sure an ordinary person would have received the same deferential treatment.
If the allegations prove true, I certainly hope they throw the book at this guy. He's been involved not only in foster parenting but also
serving as a junior-high youth leader and junior-high Bible study leader at Christ’s Church of the Valley and a camp counselor and former youth mentor for the Hemophilia Association.
Yikes!
