Tonight on Nightline, a juror of the Michael Dunn murder trial was interviewed. The juror, named Valerie, is the first juror we have heard from since the trial concluded.
Below is a quick summary of her interview.
Valerie was Juror #4, a white female employed as a home care nurse. She asked that her last name not be used. This juror was motivated to speak to the press because she was concerned about the confusion many experienced following the verdict- where Michael Dunn was found guilty of three counts of attempted murder, but a mistrial was declared on the murder count in the death of Jordan Davis.
Valerie explained that initially, 10 of the 12 jurors believed Dunn had committed murder, but 2 were of the opinion that his actions were in self defense. After some 30+ hours of heated deliberations, the final vote count was 9-3.
Valerie felt he was guilty and spoke about all the different options that were available to Dunn instead of shooting.
When ABC has the video available, I will update this diary.
