On July 9, 2013, Lloyd D. George, United States District Judge, issued a permanent injunction against Cliven Bundy.
President Ronald Reagan appointed Judge George.
According to Judge George's order, Cliven Bundy continually violated an earlier injunction by running cattle on Federal land. But Bundy went even further. He started running cattle on "new lands."
Bundy claims? The Federal government did not own land ceded to it by Mexico in 1848. And maybe the cattle bearing Bundy's brand did not actually belong to Bundy.
From Judge George's biography:
"Judge Lloyd D. George was appointed United States District Judge for the District of Nevada by President Ronald Reagan in May 1984. He served as Chief United States District Judge from 1992 to 1997, and assumed senior status in December 1997.
Judge George was a pilot in the United States Air Force. He received his bachelor of science degree in 1955 from Brigham Young University, and his J.D. degree in 1961 from the University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall). Upon graduating, he returned to Las Vegas where he built a successful private practice.
"He has authored articles on the administration of the federal judiciary, ethics and insolvency. He has won many awards, including the Brigham Young University Alumni Distinguished Service Award, the Notre Dame Club’s John C. Mowbray Humanitarian of the Year Award, and the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award.
"At the commencement at BYU in 2001, Judge George was the recipient of the Presidential Citation. In 2005, he received the Jensen Public Service Award from Boalt Hall, University of California."

Apparently Bundy not only violated the earlier injunction from 1998, but has now moved his cattle even further afield into new public lands. Bundy obviously thinks the Federal judiciary is a joke. Some quotes from Judge George's order:
“Nor is there a legitimate dispute that Bundy has grazed his cattle on the New
Trespass Lands without federal authorization. The United States has submitted Bundy’s
deposition excerpts indicating that Bundy has grazed livestock on the New Trespass Lands.”
"Bundy principally opposes the United States’ motion for summary judgment on the
ground that this court lacks jurisdiction because the United States does not own the public lands in question. As this court previously ruled in United States v. Bundy, Case No. CV-S-98-531-JBR (RJJ) (D. Nev. Nov. 4, 1998), “the public lands in Nevada are the property of the United States because the United States has held title to those public lands since 1848, when Mexico ceded the land to the United States.” CV-S-98-531 at 8 (citing United States v. Gardner, 107 F.3d 1314, 1318 (9th Cir. 1997))
“Bundy [also contends] the observed cattle bearing his brand may not in fact be his own.”
“Finally, the public interest is served by the enforcement of Congress’ mandate for management of the public rangelands, and by having federal laws and regulations applied to all citizens equally.”
