or Elizabeth Warren or Joe Biden or Brian Schweitzer or Martin O'Malley or whoever.
Look, if the past six years have demonstrated anything, it is that the president of the United States, as the country's founders intended, is the Executive around here, not the Board.
Give me Elizabeth Warren, sure. And Al Franken and Bernie Sanders and about 30 more like them. Give me Grayson and Grijalva and a hundred more like them. Give me head-knockers like Byrd and Johnson (and Pelosi and, yes, even Reid) holding the reins.
And I'll give you another New Deal. Which didn't come from the hand of Franklin Roosevelt but had already been written and voted down and fought over for years by the likes of Wagner and Glass and Stegall. The "first hundred days" were, in reality, the previous six years, with the cork pulled out.
So, sure, I'll vote for Hillary or Elizabeth or whoever ends up wearing the blue jersey.
But, whoever the quarterback ends up being, we're never going to win the game until we get the ball back.
