Much ado has been made about the 47 Senators and their open letter to the leaders of Iran. Headlines proclaim "
traitors", while petitions at WhiteHouse.gov with
over 100,000 signatures are asking for the signers of letter to be prosecuted for sedition or treason. Others wonder if this is just another one of the many attacks disrespecting the authority of our first black president.
No doubt this jab at Obama satisfies the bloodlust of the racists, but maybe this is about free speech. Not the free speech that is free-of-charge, I’m talking about the Citizens United brand of free speech, a very expensive speech indeed. It appears a group called the Emergency Committee for Israel was willing to pay just under a million dollars to get the malicious meddler Mr. Cotton elected.
"this [Iraq] is going to be a two month war..."
Some may wonder who controls this Emergency Committee for Israel that was so eager to spend $960,000 to elect a mouthpiece willing to torpedo Obama’s efforts at brokering a peaceful agreement with Iran? Well look at that, it’s none other than our old friend from
Project for a New American Century, the Iraq war peddling putz,
Bill Kristol. So in just a couple months and with the help of Kristol, Senator Cotton has secured a dependable line of campaign funding from defense contractors.
With Obama and the other countries seemingly making progress on a peaceful deal, the Military Industrial Complex needs to get busy if they want to move some merchandise. They couldn’t even wait 48 hours to welcome their newest neo-con provocateur to a closed-door meeting. Is that drumming I hear in the distance?

So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
