The fact that the U.S. Congress is contemplating fast tracking a fraudulent trade deal that President Obama has colluded with corrupt corporations and lobbyists to get passed with no public debate in total secrecy reveals how much contempt Washington has for the American people.
The first attempt to fast track the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement – the most fraudulent “free trade” deal the vast majority of Americans are totally unaware of – was originally shot down in the U.S. Senate despite President Barack Obama’s strong arm tactics and lies and the lobbying efforts of the corrupt corporations involved in the super-secret negotiations aimed at enabling corporate power grabs, but days after it failed to pass, enough corrupt Democrat Congress Critters capitulated to corporations and Obama and approved a motion which resulted in the Senate passing the Fast Track authority Obama needs to advance the TPP's totalitarian predatory policies.
12 countries – the U.S., Japan, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Chile, Singapore, Peru, Vietnam, New Zealand and Brunei – are currently negotiating the egregious TPP in total secrecy. If the TPP were approved in its current form, it would break down protections for workers, consumers, and the planet’s natural systems of not only the countries involved in the secretive undemocratic agreement, but also of any country foolish enough to do business with them while further corrupting global trade.
The dubious details from the part of the TPP agreement that was recently leaked reveal that it secretly enables the totalitarian predatory plundering of any country foolish enough to abide by it, raising concerns about individual freedoms of expression, due process, innovation, the future of the Internet’s global infrastructure and the right of sovereign nations to develop policies and laws which eviscerate Intellectual Property (IP) laws in many countries, raises healthcare costs and destroys Medicare and the elderly and confirms that the delusions of the countries colluding with corrupt corporations involved in negotiations are worse than previously thought.
It is very telling that the TPP has been negotiated in total secrecy which is why Obama and the corporations he is colluding with don’t want the text of it made public. The current release of the text of the IP Chapter by WikiLeaks reveals that Washington is making more changes that benefit corporations and adversely affect Americans and other world populations,
It is also very telling that the world has to find out about the nefarious sections of the TPP through leaked documents. No one involved in the shady negotiations will admit what the agreement entails because the public would have nothing to do with it if they were informed. It is unacceptable to design shadowy trade agreements in secret behind closed doors. The TPP is one of the most egregious, fraudulent, far-reaching free trade agreements ever and criminalizing online activities, invading privacy and stifling knowledge should not be tolerated by citizens of any country involved.
The TPP will require signatory countries to adopt heightened copyright protection to advance the agendas of the U.S. Entertainment and Pharmaceutical Industries while eviscerating the rights of Internet users and technology innovators. The TPP would also affect countries which are not currently involved in the extremely secret negotiations and further enable the profound corruption that has become synonymous with American political system we currently have in place and result in more job loss, lower wages and higher drug costs.
The leaked TPP IP chapter exposes sweet deals for Big Pharma and the multitude of bullying tactics being used by Washington to try and force it through. The U.S. has been secretly pushing rules that capitulate to big corporate right holders and undermines the public’s freedom to use knowledge. Washington is trying to use the TPP to gouge us on medicine, eviscerate small farmers, increase illegal online surveillance and destroy civil liberties while enriching Big Pharma and other corporate monopolies which own most of Washington. The leak also reveals that Big Pharma and Monsanto would benefit the most from the rules proposed in the TPP.
The so-called free trade agreement being secretly pursued by Washington is a grab-bag of egregious policies designed to give more power to corporations that own Washington while screwing the citizens of every country involved in it. The TPP is not mainly about trade either. One part of the agreement as it stands would offer incentives to offshore jobs to low-wage countries and limit government policies that protect us. Domestic, Federal, State and local policies would all be required to comply with the “rules” of the TPP, which would even elevate individual foreign firms to equal status with sovereign nations allowing those firms to privately enforce the TPP.
Tax cuts by 2 GOP Presidents – Ronald Reagan in 1981 and never-elected George W. Bush in 2001 and 2003 – were pushed on the U.S. public as ways to create more American jobs and boost the economy. All those tax cuts did was widen the wealth gap by destroying the Middle Class and lining the pockets of CEOs of corrupt corporations that don’t pay taxes. So-called trickle-down economics have been repeatedly proven to be a scam as the jobs created under Reagan and Bush paid paltry wages and profoundly increased the federal budget. We were told bailing out the fraudsters on Wall Street in 2008 would preserve the economy but all it did was reward criminals and make them richer. Washington lied about tax cuts, trickle-down economics and the bailout and Washington is lying about the “benefits” of the fraudulent free trade agreement that is known as the TPP.
In addition to being a fraudulent scam, the TPP also violates Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution by overriding our republican form of government by handing Judicial and Legislative authority over to a foreign three-person panel of corporate lawyers. The U.S. Senate revealed how corrupt they are by approving a bill that would fast-track the TPP and essentially prohibit the U.S. Congress from amending the fraudulent deal. In essence, Washington subverted Democracy and opened the door to tyranny by fast-tracking the TPP agreement. Under the agreement as it stands, the TPP would provide a back door for Wall Street to water down regulations aimed at stopping their fraudulent endeavors and empower any foreign manufacturer or financial firm to attack financial policies and demand taxpayer compensation for regulations they claim would frustrate their expectations and inhibit their profits. Selling out the sovereignty of the U.S. to foreign and multinational corporations is both illegal and unconstitutional.
In typical Washington fashion, Americans are being screwed over with hush-hush secrecy, deceptive rhetorical dodges and blatant lies about the TPP, and it has become obvious that the Obama administration has conspired with a cabal of criminal corporations to sell out Americans and the citizens of 11 other countries. The TPP is a scam that has absolutely nothing to do with free trade. If it wasn’t such a fraud, the U.S. Congress wouldn’t be threatened with criminal charges for revealing the content of the TPP to their constituents. NAFTA was a massive cluster you-know-what that screwed over the U.S. public, but the TPP is much worse. Trade agreements should improve the bottom lines of all Americans, not just corrupt corporations that own most of Washington.
The Obama administration has told numerous lies regarding what the TPP is and the end results it would produce. The TPP’s only purpose is to make Wall Street richer and further bankrupt the American public, and will only be a larger disaster for the American public than NAFTA could ever dream of being. 20 years of NAFTA and the bogus hype about and lies about “free trade” prove that the latest fraudulent TPP will be even worse. The next stop for the fraudulent piece of shit that is the TPP is the U.S. House where it currently doesn’t have enough support to ram it through. Allowing an illegal trade agreement to pass that destroys America’s future is not an option or choice that should be made quickly, without debate and in total secrecy. We’ve been down that road too many times in the past.
