We hate to pile more on disgraced former GOP Rep. Aaron Schock. (Actually, we don't at all.) The Downton Abby- and Instagram-loving congressman was forced to resign in March after news broke of his use of taxpayer money for personal travel and a fudged mileage reimbursement report for more miles than his car had actually been driven.
Earlier this week, we had news from the Peoria Journal Star that at least one county in his district is asking him to reimburse the county $78,000 for the cost of a special primary and general election to replace him. Now he's being sued by a former donor who wants his $500 donation back.
According to a story in the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicagoan Henry Foster donated $500 and wants it back.
Foster quoted Schock as saying, “for those whom I’ve let down, I will work tirelessly to make it up to you,” according to the story.
“With this lawsuit, Schock has an opportunity to do just that by refunding campaign contributions,” Foster wrote.
In the lawsuit, Foster said that he donated money to Schock's campaign because he thought Schock was "ethical, a breath of fresh air in Illinois politics, and had a bright future in Congress.”
Hey, buddy. You donated to a Republican. You get what you pay for.
