I make it a habit to read anti-gay websites like a menu to get the hate du jour. My main go-to site these days is Barbwire created by the ruthlessly bigoted Matt Barber. It is a true wart on the genitals of the nation with contributors reading like a who's who of extremists. It's the Walmart of hate speech. Yes, it makes me want to take a Silkwood shower after visiting, but it affords a look into what passes off as the minds of these unhinged people which I consider important.
I was on the site yesterday when I opened a piece written by Timothy Buchanan titled Here We Go Again. It is just another run of the mill rant about the Supreme Court considering marriage equality, filled with your typical seething anti-gay bigotry. Calling us "Homo-fascists and The Godless Left" who have "chosen to be identified by their own depraved behavior", Buchanan's is on the cutting edge of Barbwire rhetoric.
One choice paragraph manages to simultaneously accuse us of sexually abusing our children while co-opting the recent riots in Baltimore and Ferguson to warn people that this is just but a sampling of what America can expect if gay people are allowed to adopt said children.
If children are permitted to be adopted by same-sex couples, generations of brokenness, confusion, misery and sexual abuse will be the certain result. The recent violent events in Baltimore and Ferguson are a screaming witness to the destruction that results from a breakdown in families. Can America afford the family’s total dissolution?
Articles like this appearing on
Barbwire are a dime a dozen. The people who write for this site try to out-bigot one another on a daily basis. What Buchanan wrote would be difficult to differentiate from any of a dozen anti-gay pieces appearing on the site at this very moment.
It wasn't until I got to the very last paragraph that Buchanan had managed to separate himself from the pack.
It would be utter foolishness for the Homo-fascists, the Lawless Left and their media mouthpieces to mistake the kindness and peacefulness of the Right as submission or weakness. May God’s will prevail in the United States Supreme Court.
I'm glad I wasn't drinking something at that moment or it would have been sprayed all over my monitor. Kindness? Peacefulness? Seriously? We are to mistake
not playing out their lurid fantasy of putting into practice Leviticus 20:13 as playing nice? What is it with the surname Buchanan that lends itself to that person becoming this seriously delusional?
It would be utter foolishness for us "Homo-fascists" to see these people as anything but dangerous and deeply disturbed. I tend to doubt a victory for us at the Supreme Court is going to be viewed as "God's will" by the likes of Timothy Buchanan. I'm sure going to get a kick out of it though.

Since the PictureQuilt is still unavailable to us, I am posting a pic of the AIDS Quilt.
To the many friends I've known who are represented on this quilt, rest in peace tonight my darlings.
