Monday! So I spent the weekend listening to live music Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday. Either I or my friend Lynn knew someone in the band :)
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group gives Kossacks a safe place to check in, a daily diary where we can let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, earthquakes, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It also allows us to find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, earthquakes etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a Kosmail and ask to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
We do have a diary schedule. But, when you are ready to write that diary, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMOM a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FloridaSNMOM is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

I had a most excellent weekend :) My second one as newly single, in fact. What better way to spend it than listening to incredible music?
Friday night, we went to the ViewHouse in Centennial to see a band that Lynn knew. The band, whose name sadly escapes me, was GREAT. Lynn and I danced and danced. Here's Lynn (the blonde) dancing with somebody who just joined her:

Funny thing: the woman in light blue, on the "Friends of the band" sofa, was my son's preschool teacher and our former vacation nanny!! We had quite the happy reunion and exchanged phone numbers :)
A table full of gentlemanly good ol' gun-totin', huntin' and fishin' boys gave us their chairs and tilted the umbrella to shade us :) One goateed gentleman was quite taken with me, but alas thought that Donald Trump would be the best President ever. I attempted to disabuse him of this insane notion by informing him that Trump was a squirrel-headed chump, a nouveau riche denizen of Queens, and an all-around blowhard/asshat, but the gentleman took umbrage. I then informed him that goatees give me hives and that I would NEVER skin an elk that he shot, and we parted amicably.
Saturday night, we went to my friend J's bandmate's house and imbibed vast quantities of delicious alcoholic beverages before the band played. But I had to drive Suzy back to my house, so had to drink water for the remainder of the evening :( That's really the only downside to this divorce--driving myself. Bleah.
They were awesome, except the keyboard did something weird and made my eardrums vibrate painfully towards the end of the set :( The drummer saw me pressing my fingers over my ears and kindly rushed to give me earplugs. They helped :)

On Sunday, my friend Billy's band played at Buckskin's, on the patio. They were incredible. And THIS performance, unlike the last, was not live-streamed. The one that I went to in May WAS, and unfortunately my date (a public figure) and I (separated but not divorced) were completely oblivious, and were caught on tape dancing and making out. Oops. Luckily, the strobe lights make it fairly impossible to recognize either one of us unless you actually know us. Ha. I will not be posting the link to that video :)
Here's a still:

And here is Billy's band this afternoon:
Billy on drums, again
Billy and J hit it off and talked band stuff :) Lynn and Billy also hit it off :) Very fun afternoon. I have short videos of all three bands, but no idea what to do with them. Too tired to set up an account and upload them to YouTube. Also, was up until 3:30 am last night talking with Suzy. Zzzzz. Early bedtime tonight.
Hope that everyone had a great weekend!
