Last Sunday I made a post I shouldn't have, and it was HR'ed. I would like to apooogize, and also explain.
If people don't feel assuaged by my explanation, I regret that, but that's not my intent. An honest apology should come from integrity, not a desire to be loved again. "Honey, I'm sorry I had sex with your sister," is a lie if you are really sorry you got caught.
The offending HRed post is here.
Sunday the whole thing with the #blm protest at Netroots Nation caught me by surprise. I was reading and posting in the usual diaries, when I read Feminista's diary (I always read her diaries) #Listening Matters. And I didn't have the slightest idea what she was talking about because of the coded language. So, hmmm... I looked through the rec and recent list to find out what was up, and there were a couple of baffled diaries by people wanting to know what happened at Netroots Nation, and other people trying to explain.
And I was offended.
Let me explain something. I've never been to a Netroots Nation. I really thought Netroots Nation was a DailyKos or DailyKos dominates and organized event. It isn't. In fact, Markos even refused to attend NN this year because of his boycott of the state of Arizona over SB1070. Well, I didn't know. It makes a difference to me, though.
Why? Because I thought NN was us. That it was a Kossack event organized and dominated by Kossacks. This meant that somebody interrupted and fucked up an event we Kossacks organized. The fact that it happened while Bernie was talking, and I support Bernie upset me as a Bernie supporter. But that really was of LESSER IMPORTANCE to me than that there was some kind of ambush. Comments in Recent List diaries were mentioning names of people who knew in advance that this demonstration would take place, including some NN organizers like MoveOn CEO Anna Galland.
And that, to me, sounded like treachery. Towards us and our event. At the very least, it seemed, it made us shitty guests. I made several posts before getting to the one that was HR'ed calling it possible treachery and that DailyKos management needed to straighten this out fast.

You need to get on Markos (2+ / 0-)
this thing reeks of organizer treachery. Set aside the candidates thing for a moment. Everybody got screwed.

Markos was not there (9+ / 0-)
Daily Kos did not participate in this year's NN15 because it was held in Arizona.

Markos was in Berkeley. I was somewhere... (4+ / 0-)
...between Rest Area, Utah, and Truckstop, Colorado. What should I get on him about regarding this?

It took a while for it to sink in that this wasn't some other party screwing Kossacks or Kossacks screwing Kossacks. But I still disapproved of the interruption of the event because it made no sense to me. It seemed dumb and counterproductive to me. There were so many people that actually support cops who kill blacks that deserve to be targeted. I still feel that way, but I feel chastened by my not understanding what NN was about before getting myself so entangled. I jumped in with both feet prematurely.
And I posted in a diary that wasn't even about the #blm protest. At that point, they were all gettinf confused. I was popping from diary to diary. The diary about Sandra Bland was full of comments about #blm, and that was distractin enough to make me lose track of what was appropriate for THIS diary that at the top didn't mention #blm. When it was finally pointed out, I posted apologies for that in the subthread.
