Monday! A day to get moving and get shit done :)
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group gives Kossacks a safe place to check in, a daily diary where we can let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, earthquakes, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It also allows us to find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, earthquakes etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a Kosmail and ask to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
We do have a diary schedule. But, when you are ready to write that diary, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMOM a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FloridaSNMOM is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

I am planning a huge party to celebrate, err, commemorate my divorce. Unofficially, it is the "Ding Dong D* Is Gone" or DDDIG party, but officially I will name it something like "Post-Summer Soirée." I plan to invite the entire Colorado Community group and all my old friends who avoided my house because of my ex-husband for years :( And my freshman year college roommate, who LOATHED my ex, is flying out from New York! Giggety!!
My friend Jim's band is going to play! I called the local cops to find out the rules. I assured the rather young officer that we were all practically elderly fuddy-duddies who wouldn't dream of making a lot of noise or having a good time :) He told me that if somebody with normal hearing could hear the music from 75' away from their property line, I could be cited for disorderly conduct. I told him that my mother would be most unhappy if it that happened. He advised me to invite all my neighbors. So I will :) I'm really only worried about my ex, Itchy and Scratchy, or BigMouth and Wimp calling the cops because they aren't invited. I'm going to ask the cops if I can provide them with a list of likely complainers and their cellphone numbers. The cops like me because I was the only one to ever solve the homicide during the entire history of the Citizen's Police Academy. Also, I make them laugh :)
So I got the house (and the mortgage) and all the contents in the divorce. But there are many things that need to be done!!
I have hideous brass chandeliers that I never got around to replacing when I had a joint credit card :( I am going to paint them oil-rubbed bronze. They will be lovely :) I bought the paint today. Must find tarps.
I need to tile the downstairs bar. It's also hideous. I used MDF and spar varnish to make temporary countertops before a party FIVE YEARS AGO. Ooops.
I need to fix a collapsed shelf in the storage closet. What a pain in the ass.
I need to list and hopefully sell a LOT of stuff on the mommy garage sale boards. It's all on a shelf rack in the basement.
I need to get either a hutch or sofa for ex-DH's office, which is now my sewing room.
I need to figure out whether to keep or sell the gigantic air hockey table. I need money more than an air hockey table, but the kids claim they like it.
I have to clean all the patio cushions AGAIN. I use Dawn, peroxide, and baking soda. Amazing :)
I have to buy plants for the patio and garden. I didn't do any planting because I travelled so much in June and July.
I have to remember to send the evite :)
I have to get my own Costco membership and budget for the party. I'm thinking that if I invite 70 people, probably 40 will make it? But this is a SPECIAL party, so maybe more will make the effort. I have seven sofas and three extra bedrooms (guest and the kids') so a few people are coming from the far reaches of Colorado :)
I need a bunch of lightbulbs replaced. At 5'8" (I shrank) I am too short to reach several of them on a 6' ladder. Luckily, Jim is 6'6" and said he'd do it for me :) Yeah baby :)
Arrrrggghhhh.
Anybody else planning projects or parties?
I have a doctor appointment and then a dentist appointment on Monday. I hope that I still have health insurance. DH was a busy little bee the day the divorce was final, canceling everything that he could. Asshat.
I'll check in when possible :) Happy Monday!
